• Micro hard drive digital MP3 players offer the best of both hard drive based personal MP3 player and flash based personal mp3 player. These models are smaller and lighter than hard drive ones and store more music than the flash based ones. Example: Apple iPod mini, Creative Labs Zen Micro, and Rio Carbon.

Some digital MP3 players have extra features such as voice recorder, games, ebook readers, FM radio, FM recorder, image viewer, video player.

The most common audio file formats are the following AAC, AC3, AIFF, ASF, TRAC3, IMA ADPCM, MP3VBR, Oqq Vorbis, WAV, and WMA .
